The Main Street Scoop: What’s Been Happening Downtown
Wow – 2025 has been a whirlwind and we can hardly believe we are in the middle of summer! What has happened? Well – a lot! We’ve:
- welcomed new businesses
- brought in some significant grant money for downtown development
- created and started a full-fledged volunteer program to have docents at the Welcome Center
- hosted the second annual Health and Wellness Expo
- worked with the Frederick County Arts Council on an exciting new piece of art that will come to town in the next few months
- worked with the Heart of the Civil War Heritage Area to review grants
- planned a fantastic Vintage Vehicles (which was rained out and rescheduled for August 23).
- welcomed new board members to our board
- showed up on the cover of Neighbors of Middletown
- showed up on Sass Magazine — our very own Main Street Executive Director, Becky Axilbund was featured in the Boss Issue and featured in the annual publication Faces of Frederick.
No wonder we are just now catching our breaths and enjoying the slower pace of the summer months.
But this slow pace won’t last too long as we begin to work with the Frederick Tourism Council on a video about our Ice Cream Trail, create updated ads to place all around the Frederick region, compete again in the Frederick News Post Best of the Best Contest, host Vintage Vehicles Rain Date, host Scarecrows March Down Main, participate in Heritage Festival and begin the planning stages for Christmas in the Valley!
And maybe in the few days following Christmas in the Valley we’ll slow down for a moment.
Main Street Middletown, MD Inc. works hard, stresses over details, but plans far out into the future. Working here and/or volunteering here is never dull.
And the view outside of our windows of our lovely downtown are always bright!
